Virgin Media apologises for inconvenience over Bay cable laying

The company responsible for laying communication cables throughout Dalgety Bay is to attend a meeting in the Bay over complaints.

Virgin Media contractors McNicholas have been in the area for weeks laying new broadband cables as part of a nationwide roll-out of Virgin broadband.

It is understood that workers are on a five-year contract to install cables in this and other areas.

Bay residents have reported a number of issues including water and gas pipes being ruptured several times during the course of the works.

A Scottish Gas worker, who did not want to be named, said he and his colleagues had been called out four times in one week over ruptured gas pipes caused by contractors working in Dalgety Bay.

A spokesperson for Virgin Media said: “Virgin Media is currently expanding its network in Dalgety Bay to bring ultrafast broadband speeds to more homes and businesses in the area.

“We apologise to the local residents for any inconvenience.”
